- What is the difference for the admission requirement for the 10 months, 16 months direct entry and the 22 months direct entry?
GCE O Level
The difference between the 10 and 16 months is the timing of registration. If students sign up in June, they are eligible for the 16 months program. However if students only sign up at the end of the year, they are eligible for the 10 months program. Students who find that they need more time to study for the GCE ‘O’ levels can also sign up for the 16 months or 22 months program. Applicants who are 14 years old in the enrolling year are ONLY eligible to enroll in the 22 months program.
All applicants have to undertake a MDIS College English Placement Test when enrolling for the course.
Applicants who do not meet the minimum MDIS College English Placement Test must enroll into the compulsory intensive English Class.

- How many GCE O level subjects is required for entry into the local polytechnics and Junior Colleges?
Local Polytechnic
Students have to take 5 subjects (L1R4) for GCE O levels as it is the minimum requirement into a local Polytechnic. L1R4 represents one language subject which must be English and four relevant subjects depending on the course you wish to pursue in the polytechnic.

Junior College
Students have to take 6 subjects (L1R5) for GCE O levels as it is the minimum requirement into a local Junior College. L1R5 represents one language subject which must be English and five relevant subjects.
- What are the subjects combination to take for GCE A levels?
Students have to take 5 subjects for GCE A levels as it is the minimum requirement into a local university. Students have to take 3 H2 subjects and 2 H1 subjects with General paper as a compulsory H1 subject. Students have to choose a contrast subject if they want to go to a local university in Singapore. This means that students taking science subjects have to take at least one arts subjects in their 5 subjects. Likewise arts students have to take at least one science subject in their 5 subjects.
- What are the payment modes?
You may pay by cash, nets, credit cards (Visa, MasterCard and AMEX) and cheque (Payable to “MDIS College Pte Ltd”).

- Where will the classes be conducted?
All classes will be conducted at MDIS campus at 501 stirling road, Singapore 148951
- How are classes conducted?
Most of our lessons will be conducted in classrooms or laboratories. Occasionally, field trips and excursions will be organized for students. To prepare the students for the formal assessments, the College will conduct internal assessments to test the students via written tests, oral tests, practical and written examinations.
- If I am unable attend one of the lessons, is there any replacement?
There is no replacement of lesson. However, we would encourage our students to make appointment with our teachers and to sit in earlier for the next coming tutorial class to go through the tutorial that they have missed. In addition, during break time, they could approach our teachers for any clarification
- Why is there an attendance requirement?
For international student, 90% attendance is compulsory to meet the ICA requirements. Students who do not meet minimum attendance requirement will be barred from exams.
However, if you have to be away for medical reasons with a valid medical certificate, you can apply for exemption on a case by case basis. All documentary proof must be submitted to MDIS College with the leave of absence form (subjected to institute's approval).
- Does MDIS College provide any resource books?
Yes, MDIS College will provide resource books which are used are in accordance to the MOE syllabus or recommended texts where applicable.
- 10. What is the grading system for the GCE O level system?
The grading system for the GCE O level is:
Grade Marks A1 75 marks and above A2 70 to 74 B3 65 to 69 B4 60 to 64 C5 55 to 59 C6 50 to 54 D7 45 to 49 E8 40 to 44 F9 Below 40
Facilities services - Is there food available in the Campus?
Yes, the cafeteria is located at the ground level of the hostel MDIS Residences@Stirling.The cafeteria is open from 7.30am - 8.30pm (Monday - Friday), 7.30am - 3.00pm (Saturday) and closed on Sundays and public holidays.
- Is there a library at the campus?
Yes, the MDIS Resource Hub (Library) is opened to all MDIS students, which is located at the Block C, Level 4.
- What are the opening hours of the library?
Monday to Friday 8.30am – 8.00pm Saturdays 8.30am – 3.00pm Sundays & Public Holidays Closed
- Does MDIS College provide any study advice to graduating students?
MDIS College has will help guide students in study opportunities. Education fairs and are organized to assist students in identifying the study path they want to pursue.
- Does MDIS College provide hostel accommodation?
Yes, the MDIS Residences@Stirling is the very first Hostel in Singapore to be awarded the Green Mark Award. Costing nearing S$80 million, the new 15-storey hostel consists of 782 air-conditioned rooms, 14 suites, a lecture theatre and cafeteria. The hostel can accommodate some 1,700 students. The hostel has eco-friendly features and integrated facilities so that students can live, learn and play in an interactive and conducive environment.
- How does a student book for accommodations at MDIS Residences?
Students are advised to book their accommodation at least one month in advance; student can submit duly completed MDIS Residences Application Form to the MDIS hostel manager.
MDIS hostel manager will respond via e-mail within 2 weeks
- What is the processing time for admission and student pass?
6 to 8 weeks
- How do I apply to MDIS College?
Applicants can apply through MDIS Colleges’ appointed agents.
- What are the application procedures?
For application purposes, students have to submit the following:
- Complete the application form
- Non-refundable application fee of SGD $267.50 (inclusive of 7% GST) and student pass application fee of S$30 made payable to MDIS College Pte Ltd
- 4 recent passport-size photographs of the applicant (against white background)
- 1 copy of Immigration and Checkpoint Authority (ICA) e-Form 16
- Photocopy of applicant's passport pages showing his/ her particulars and travel and travel document's date of validity (At least 1 year)
- Photocopy of parent(s)’ passport
- Photocopy of applicant's Birth Certificate
- Photocopy of applicant's Certified / Notarised copy of Education Results/Certificates and Transcripts (with detailed results)
- Photocopy of the student pass (For applicants transferred from other schools in Singapore) or Notification for Cancellation of Student Pass, Visit pass and Embarkation Form
- Photocopy of financial ability. (E.g. bank statement, fixed deposit / saving account) Note: For Visa Required Country only (E.g. minimum amount of RMB150, 000 for PRC only)
- Proof of parent's occupation (PRC only)
- Photocopy of Parent(s)’ Marriage, divorce Certificate if applicable
- Proof of Parent(s)’ Occupations for VISA required country (salary and designation)
- When do students submit their application?
Submission deadline is 6 to 8 weeks prior to intake date.
Incomplete forms, documents will not be processed. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that the application reaches MDIS College before the submission deadline
- What happens if students miss the submission deadlines?
Students have to wait for the next available intake to be admitted into MDIS College
- Is there a formal letter of acceptance issued from MDIS for students to apply for bank loans?
Students can submit the conditional offer letter to banks to apply for banks loans. Should you require a formal letter of acceptance, MDIS College will issue the letter of acceptance upon formal request via e-mail.
- Can students work while studying in Singapore with student passes?
No, students are not allowed to work at all while on a student pass or visa. Students will be required to attend full-time classes.
Students are not allowed to work while on a student visa as it is strictly prohibited by Immigration Checkpoint Authority. Please visit www.ica.gov.sg for complete information.
- How much would a student need to budget for his/her stay and study in Singapore?
Living Expenses are estimated at between S$1,200 to S$2,000 per month
For Cost in SGD (S$) per monthly Accommodation $481.50 to 882.75 – for stays in MDIS Residences which includes Utilities, Internet facilities and Laundry Services Utilities (Called PUB- Water, Electricity and sometimes gas) You can also buy gas cylinders separately based on your house type. $25-$100 per person based on your usage Transportation $50-$300 – Varies based on how much you have to travel, do you go out on your free time, is accommodation on campus etc. Food $25-$100 per person based on your usage Books and Stationary $50-$300 – Varies on how much stationary you utilize and the subjects you are studying. Personal Expenses $100-$300,depends on your choice, how often you buy clothes, electronics etc.
- What is Fee Protection Scheme(FPS)?
All international and local students have to purchase FPS, as it serves to protect all international and local students’ fees in the event that a PEI is unable to continue operations due to insolvency and/or regulatory closure. MDIS College has appointed Lonpac Insurance Berhad and HSBC to be the FPS providers for our students. The insurance coverage will be for the entire course fee.
- Do International students need to purchase medical insurance?
Yes, all international students are required to purchase medical insurance throughout their course of studies with MDIS College.
- What is the procedure to recruit agents for International Students recruitment?
MDIS College agents must be properly registered businesses with the required licenses to provide student recruitment services. For complete procedure on Recruitment and Maintenance of Agents, please refer to IB 17. - If I withdraw from the course, is there any refund?
Request for course withdrawal must be made in writing. The student should write in to the Manager of College to request for withdrawal from the course.
All requests must be supported with documentary evidence.
Upon its final decision, the College shall inform the students in writing within a week. College then proceeds to refund the student. Only the paid course fees are refundable in the following instances.
Percentage of refund before/after the course commencement date
% of aggregate amount of the fees paid as per MDIS-Student Contract If a Student’s written notice of withdrawal is received 75% (“Maximum refund”) More than 60 days before the Course Commencement Date 25% Before, but not more than 60 days before the Course Commencement Date 10% After, but not more than 7 days after the Course Commencement Date 5% More than 7 days after the Course Commencement Date, but not more than 14 days after the Course Commencement Date 0% More than 14 days after the Course Commencement Date
Note: Application fees are strictly non refundable
A cooling-off period of seven (7) working days is applicable for a maximum refund from the date when the contract was signed.
The above refund policy is also applicable to company-sponsored students.
MDIS College Pte Ltd will assess and reply to any request for withdrawal within a time frame of not more than four (4) weeks.
All refunds shall be made within seven (7) working days following approval of the Student’s request for withdrawal.
Refunds for Withdrawal with Cause
MDIS College Pte Ltd shall inform the Student immediately within three (3) working days if
(i) It fails, for any reason, to commence the Course on the Course Commencement Date;
(ii) It terminates the Course, for any reason, prior to the Course Commencement Date;
(iii) It fails, for any reason, to complete the Course by Course Completion Date;
(iv) It terminates the Course, for any reason, prior to Course Completion Date; or
(v) The Student’s Pass application is rejected by the Immigration and Checkpoint Authority (ICA).
MDIS College Pte Ltd shall, within seven (7) working days of notifying the Student in writing of above circumstances (i) to (v), provide the Student with information and details of the alternative confirmed course arrangement to allow the Student to make timely and appropriate decision on the alternative arrangement.
The student shall be entitled to immediately withdraw from the Course by giving written notice to MDIS College Pte Ltd of his/her intention to do so.
For circumstances under the above Clause, MDIS College Pte Ltd shall, within seven (7) working days after notifying the Student, refund the Student:
(i) The entire amount of the Course Fees; and
(ii) The Miscellaneous Fees.
MDIS College Pte Ltd shall also, as soon as practicable after receiving the Student’s notice of withdrawal (and in any event no later than seven (7) working days after receiving such notice) refund to the Student the entire amount of the Course Fees and the Miscellaneous Fees.
- What is the procedure if I want to transfer to another school?
If a student who has been accepted by MDIS College Pte Ltd decides to transfer to another school/institute/university before or after course commencement, a written notice of transfer must be given to MDIS College at MDIS Campus, 501 Stirling Road, Singapore 148951. This request shall be subject to the MDIS College Refund Policy.
a) Transfer out of MDIS College Pte Ltd to another school/institute/university
- Students who request to transfer out of MDIS College Pte Ltd to another school/institute/university shall be deemed as withdrawing from the Institute.
- Before accepting such transfer/withdrawal requests, MDIS College shall ensure that the student has no outstanding fees payable to the Institute. If there is any outstanding fee, the student shall be advised to make payment before the Institute processes his/her transfer/withdrawal request.
- Such requests must be submitted before commencement of classes or at a maximum, within 14 days after the date of commencement of classes.
- MDIS College shall ensure that the student has no outstanding fees payable to the Institute before accepting such transfer requests. The student shall be advised to make payment of any outstanding fees before the Institute will process his/her transfer request.
- If the request was received after commencement of class, the refund policy shall apply.
- The Institute will not accept any transfer requests after fourteen (14) days of the class commencement. Students who insist on transferring will be processed as withdrawal and new enrolment respectively. The respective terms and conditions of the withdrawal policy shall then be applicable for both intakes.
- All requests for transfer to a different course within MDIS Pte Ltd or MDIS College Pte Ltd or downgrading of academic course(s) must be submitted in writing and supported with an application fee of S$267.50 (inclusive of GST).
